ZAGATSurvey says, "politeratti and gliteratti"

RESTAURANT REVIEW

Experience -
Café Milano runs Washington's glitz, the diplomatically credentialed, and the black tie season.

Known For -
Cafe Milano has been the status symbol of Washington, D.C.'s fine dining since it opened in 1992. Don’t fight it. Presidents, Vice-Presidents, every visiting celebrity goes there. There was a time when WDC's power-players in and out of politics would triangulate between Milano, Cities in Adams Morgan, and whatever new trendy hotspot was ruling the day. Since the closure of Cities – it’s only Milano.

Location -
It is easy access in Georgetown, sitting on Prospect Street just feet away from Wisconsin Avenue. The restaurant is surrounded by parking. Though on the big event nights, the street is a parking lot. Motorcades don’t worry about you, you worry about them.

Scene Factor -
It is one of maybe three restaurants in WDC that can claim to have the visiting celebrity as their guests. The powerful have tables in their name. You can not ignore Milano for its social influence. Deals are closed, and being seen at the table of the influential can change your fortune.

Service -
Café Milano has excellent service despite being one of the busiest restaurant's in the district.

Visual -
The interior is subdued so as not to distract from the crowd. The only offered artifacts are the beautiful murals on the ceiling, and the collection of neckties walled throughout the dining area.

Favorite Dishes –
The risotto with saffron, sliced beef tenderloin, linguini Iceberg and the chef’s specials, are among our favorites.

Wine -
Café Milano has an excellent selection, specializing in Italian wines.

How Often We Dine There –
We go around twice-a-week either for dinner, late lunch with a bottle of wine, or a Sunday brunch when it rains for making memories. We suggest Tuesday night for a conversational dinner with a potential romantic interest and Thursday to be seen by anyone in town.
